Recent technical advances in high- and ultra-high-frequency ultrasound have allowed them to enter the field of microsurgery, mainly in terms of preoperative planning or mapping. Mastery of the fundamentals, as well as the systematic use of ultrasound, are the pillars for it to be used judiciously by the microsurgeon, as is already the case in so many other specialties.
